Check My Footwork

For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. Ephesians 6:15

One day, during my fellowship with our Lord, I received a text message. It was from one of my sisters in Christ. I was just beginning to get in a place of praise so I had no problem checking the message. She was asking me about my shoe size. I quickly replied and went back into fellowship. About an hour later, I received another text message. I usually don't hear my phone around this part of my fellowship but as God would have it, I did hear. It was another one of my sisters in Christ. She wanted to know where she could purchase a specific shoe type.

At this point, I had to stop and ask God, "Lord what are you telling me? What's going on with shoes today?" I began researching shoes and feet and how they relate to the Word of God. Feet, of course play a very important role in the body.  They bare our weight and take us to and fro in whichever direction we are headed.  A single foot is comprised of more than 26 bones, 33 joints and more than a hundred muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Those ligaments and muscles are very strong; allowing for mobility by redistributing the body weight .A shoe as defined by Wikipedia, is an item of footwear intended to protect and comfort the human foot while doing various activities.

I also came across Ephesians 6:15 which is mind-blowing. Peace is a component of the full armor of God. This armor is designed to allow us to stand firm against ALL strategies of the devil. Ephesians 6:11. Feet beautifully bring forth THE Good News, proclaiming peace, bringing good tidings and proclaiming salvation. Romans 10:15, Isaiah 52:7. Wow! God places peace as our feet armor,so we should be standing on it. It fully prepares us as stated in Ephesians 6:15.  Like shoes, it covers us from any hazards during our walk with God. This is why our Lord tells us that our feet should be shod with peace.  Because our feet take us along our journey they should be covered with peace to give us godly instruction toward our next destination. Things and people will appear and test your emotions. It is important to have peace to pass the test WITH flying colors!

Where do you find peace? In Jesus Christ. I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. John 16:33 He is the Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.. John 14:27 His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Colossians 3:15 Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.Romans 5:1

God used my sisters to get my attention about my missing armor. I was easily irritated, angered, or hurt. My emotions were under attack during the days prior to this revelation and as a result, my peace was constantly being taken away. Notice I said my peace. It is only when I received the peace that Jesus left for me- which surpasses ALL understanding, that I became victorious over being overly emotional. No matter how crazy or potentially nerve wrecking things can be, it is imperative that we remain at peace! God was reminding me that I can cast ALL of my cares upon Him. He is reminding you of this same truth. Amen.
