This is the story of Noah and his obedience to the Lord. He built an ark, per God's instruction, to house Noah's family and seven of every clean animal & two of every unclean animal on the face of the earth. A few facts stand out to me about Noah:
- Noah had God's favor because he was righteous and blameless despite the wickedness around him. ( 6:8,9 )
- Noah was obedient. ( 6:22, 7:5 )
- Noah's family respected him and his faith in the Lord. ( 7:7 )
For these reasons, The Lord entrusted in Noah such a task as boarding his family and the animals on the ark and releasing them into a new season. All that was required of Noah was obedience and a little labor. Well, by little, I mean in comparison to the big picture. The ark was HUGE, standing 3 stories high and longer than 3.5 professional football fields. But thankfully, Noah saw past it's size and focused on pleasing God. He understood the magnitude of the task at hand, not the ark itself.
When we are obedient and do our small part, God will perform His part. In this case Noah built and ark. In turn, I believe the Lord sent all the animals to Noah. And the Lord made it so all the animals sailed on the ark, in perfect harmony, not harming Noah, his family or each other. Not only that but after all were on board, but 7:16 reads "Then the Lord shut them in." Noah did not have to struggle with that massive door! After this, the Lord sent rain for 40 days and nights to flood the earth and cover the tops of the highest mountains by 20 feet. And then He cleared it all out and gave them the okay to leave the ark again.
My point is: when the Lord gives us a task we must do it. He never left Noah during the assignment and He will not leave us either. Not everything the Lord does is seen in the natural like it was with Noah. Some things may be performed in the spirit realm but contingent upon our obedience. Everything the Lord asks may not make sense to us but that is okay. We are to trust Him completely and lean not on our own understanding. The Lord entrusted one person, Noah with such a large task that literally changed the world. And his assignment was TIME SENSITIVE. ( 7:4) The specific instructions given by God were completed immediately by Noah.
What is your "ark"? Who is waiting on you to build it and save them from destruction? He/she/it awaits the covering or shelter that you are to construct. INSERT YOUR NAME in place of Noah's in verses 6:22 and 7:5 and read it aloud. Get to work, time is ticking!
